Thoughts on a Thursday

...Even though I'm finishing this post on a Friday:

  • That sweet, sweet senesation of knowing that tomorrow is Saturday and you get to sleep in.
  • When you and your friends walk two miles in the cold on your lunch break just for a Georgetown cupcake. Worth it.
  • That awkard moment when someone with questionable fashion compliments something you're wearing and you immediately re-examine your whole outfit.
  • Anytime you get to wear jeans to work.
  • That moment when you sell something on ebay and actually make money on it, so you mentally start going through all your belongings to see what else you can part with.
  • Getting Amazon packages :)

Bon weekend everyone!

Still Alive

Sorry for the lack of posts, but we've both been sickies over here. I'm pretty sure I had the flu because it completely knocked me out the weekend before this past one--I was in bed from Friday night to Monday night, feeling like a 900-year-old woman with brittle bones, a sore throat, and congestion. Brody has had a sporatic cough since around Christmas that had just been dry and wheezy that recently turned not so dry. On top of that, he had nine job interviews on Saturday, and I was co-hosting a baby shower that morning.  So it's been lots of fun lately, but I think we are finally on the mend :)

The Super Bowl was quite entertaining since we were rooting for different teams.  Normally, my interest in  is more attuned to the ads than the game itself.  This year, however, I had a weirdly personal interest, (which was particularly good timing, seeing how underwhelming the ads were).  I went to high school with Haloti Ngata and was in the dorms with Dennis Pitta at BYU.  Both of whom actually played yesterday for the Ravens.  It was weird.  And Brody has been a 49ers fan since the days of Steve Young so he was a little upset at the refs in that last quarter but took the defeat in stride.

Meanwhile I've been daydreaming about spring and summer and scheming to plan an actual vacation! And the fact that the groundhog didn't see his shadow, i.e. early spring, just makes me hopeful.

Cold

Have you ever been so cold that you actually went full-on terrorist?  Well Brody did.  It's somewhere between crazy old lady and infidel.

It's been frigid cold this week.  So cold.  It snowed this morning, the first real snow we've had since living here.  Don't be fooled by the sunshine in these photos--with the wind chill the temps are in the single digits and/or teens.

The Thing About Inaugerations....

...is that you have to get there at about 5:30 am for security purposes.  Which basically means that it's not happening.

There are only a select few things in this world that are worth that much lost sleep, and politicians are nowhere near that list.   I'm a little nervous for this because I've been told the city is pure chaos and getting around is a nightmare so with that in mind, happy long weekend everyone!

Without Internets

We haven't had internet at our house since Thursday night. Comcast came yesterday afternoon to fix it, only to discover that they will need to run an entirely new cable to our apartment. So we probably won't have internet until maybe Wednesday....

It's been a sad realization over the last few days just how much we depend on the internets.  Several times throughout the day I would try to look something up on my phone, or want to watch something on Netflix or Hulu only to remember that I can't.  (I'm sure my 3G for the month is racking up quickly). On the plus side, I finished a book over the weekend, so that was nice.

It's kind of freeing this whole 'unplugged' thing...but that may just be me trying to convince myself that it's not as annoying and inconveniant as it really is.  So I apologize for the lack of posts. I'm having to do this from an alternate location, and for some reason I can't upload any pictures here.

Get It Together

This is my favorite thing to say to people lately (jokingly of course), and I've been doing my best to get my own life together...starting with my closet.

not bad eh?
