So we drove across the country

And honestly, there's just a whole lot of nothing in the middle of the country. But it was beautiful and we took some pictures. I'll try to differentiate the landscapes but they all pretty much look the same between Wyoming and Pennsylvania... (pretty much all of these were taken of the windows of the car so forgive me)

Wyoming:

lots and lots of windmills

Nebraska:

Crossing the Mississippi into Iowa

lots and lots of bugs on the front of the car...
Illinois, Indiana and/or Ohio?:

Crossing through a tunnel in the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania

Finally the light at the end of the tunnel!

We were really so lucky and didn't have any issues during the drive or move-in. 4th of July pictures to come...

We're heeeere!

2,076 miles, zero flat tires or tickets, one moving trailer, 8 missionaries to help us unload, two parking permits from the city, and more boxes of than we know what do with .... and we made it!

Moving

It's no secret that moving is right up there with rush-hour traffic, taxes, and public speaking in terms of the worst things ever...

But I have news: moving to an urban location is exponentially worse!!!!

There are so many logistical hoops to jump through it's making my head hurt a little bit. Don't get me wrong, I know it will all be worth it, and we are both really excited to live in Washington but did you know you have to get a permit from the city to have a moving trailer on a city street? And that you have to park no parking signs in said area 72 hours in advance to reserve that space? and that you can only move on Mondays through Fridays, which means if our moving company is a day late, we will have to wait until Monday to do any actual moving, but Monday is the 4th of July so we would probably actually have to move on Tuesday. And if you want your stuff there on a guaranteed day, then you have to have your trailer loaded over a week in advance....UGH. It's okay. It will all work out. Right? In the meantime I am just excited that they recently opened a Shake Shack

(yes THAT shack shack in Madison Square Park in NYC) in DC and it is a mere two blocks from our apartment.

Success

We found an apartment and are SO excited!!! It's just off DuPont Circle and it's only a 10-12 minute walk for Brody to school and an 8-9 minute walk to work for me! (if I get that job, or any job downtown) No more driving in rush hour :)

Cross your fingers

Hopefully when we get back we'll have an apartment and a job offer (for me)...

Cross your fingers for us!
