Let's Get This Ignorant Clown Fired

Shall we?

I find it completely reprehensible that MSNBC allowed him to say this on air, and haven't even issued an apology or retraction, let alone FIRED him.  I think it's safe to say that had he made such blatantly false and egregious remarks about any other religion, he would have been reprimanded no-questions-asked.  I am not usually one to get fired up about things like this, I have a pretty good sense of humor about my religion, but this is deeply offensive and such horrific journalism that I'm almost certain it's defamation, by law.  Where is this guy getting his sources?  South Park could give him an exponentially better grasp of the founding of the LDS church for crying out loud, lest he deign to actually use the official Church website as a source.  But hey, if you're going to do a story about someone, you wouldn't interview the actual person...you'd of course use the most outrageous rumors and lies you could dig up and then report them as fact.  Don Imus gets canned for calling a women's basketball team of what 32 people 'nappy headed hoes', but this guy reports unfounded and insulting lies about a religion with 14+ million members and doesn't even get a slap on the wrist? Shenanigans!

To sign the petition to get this severely misinformed and reckless bastage fired go here and/or here
and you should probably leave a little comment for MSNBC here as well.

Glad to See This

What is This "Parking Lot" You Speak Of...?

Huge parking spaces.....they're everywhere!!! And they're FREE?!?!  So it had been a while since Brody and I had been to a suburb and I must say, I really took parking lots for granted all my life.  Imagine, I used to be annoyed about a space being "far away" from a store entrance.  On Saturday, after NOT winning the lottery, Brody and I had a wonderful day date, we started off  by venturing out to Falls Church, VA for some much-needed Cafe Rio.  It's located in a mini mall right next to a Target...the perfect combo.  After gorging ourselves on pork barbacoa and tomatillo ranch we frolicked through Target (I may have even quoted Elaine on Seinfeld's "wide lanes...how luxurious!" while fishtailing my cart through the abnormally spacious aisles), loading up on toiletries and essentials.  I'd forgotten just how ridiculously overpriced CVS is.  I wish I was exaggerating about how nice and spacious everything felt...but I'm really not.  After Target, we headed over to a movie theater in Arlington to catch a matinee of Hunger Games, a steal at $10 a ticket. For a matinee.  Yeah.

Nevertheless it was a wonderful spring day with my sweetheart, and I actually really liked the movie for the most part. I felt it was one of the better book-to-movie conversions, and I loved the cast especially.  And on Sunday we took one of Brody's old converts to the first session of conference at one of the chapels.  She lives near the Basilica, which looked beautiful, gleaming in the bright spring sunshine.  The whole city seems to be in bloom, all in all, it was a lovely weekend!

Well I guess you could say I'm a professional photographer....I've been pulished...kind of a big deal.  The Church did a story that mentions our tutoring program recently and asked me to send them some photos.  The fluorescent lighting really helped things along I must say...

I was actually really glad that they did, because I'd been meaning to take some pictures of the tutoring kids for a while. Despite my heavy sarcasm above about my photog "skills", it's been an awesome experience working with the youth in our ward (pending the whole stolen-credit-cards fiasco) and organizing this program with Brody. We've loved getting to know the kids and working with the awesome volunteer tutors

Nighttime Stroll

Brody and I took a little stroll to the White House, Eisenhower Executive Office Building and the Treasury the other night, enjoying the spring/summery temperature, and the smell of blossoms on the air. Lovely!

Snapshots

Random snapshots of life lately...
Fancy Friendship Heights shopping and Brody looking dapper at church

A ridiculous amount of cops

My outfit made entirely of Christmas gifts (mostly from my sweet mom) and the Dupont metro escalator
