So my brilliant plan to become bff's with Michelle Obama and thus get inducted into Oprah's inner circle is temporarily foiled...the first family weren't out and about at the lawn party, but it didn't detract from having an amazing, and very surreal, time.
We had to go through three security checkpoints to get in, (after having to give them our social security #'s, addresses, DOB's, etc. a few weeks ago just to get on the list). But we made our way up the path to the South lawn where they had free food and beverages, games, and entertainment (in the form of country-singer Brad Paisley)--your Federal tax dollars at work ;)
It was really so crazy to walk right up to the back of the White House and see all the secret service and snipers at the ready. Once it got dark, we actually saw the first family and their very VIP guests coming out on the roof of the White House to see the fireworks.
Despite the heat, it was a great night, one that we won't soon be forgetting. We felt so very lucky to be a part of it, to be having this adventure in DC, and to live in this amazing country.

What a cool, I mean "totally hot" day at the White House! I watched the fireworks on tv last night ... they were great! Even though New York had 4 barges of fireworks going at the same time! You guys are sure living it up back there!! Miss you.
Also glad to hear Dru is doing better ... It's amazing what the medical profession can do these days!
That s totally on my bucket list. Celebrate fourth of July in Dc. Second be in Ireland on St Patricks day, and Mexico for day of the dead. Go get Michelle! Don't take no for an answer!
that is so awesome linds. what an amazing memory! we missed you at the sugar house fireworks party at the parents. we were watching home videos, it was good times, but we sure missed you~!

ahhh ho this is so amazing! im surprised that with your fantastic stalking capabilities that you didn't at least get a close call with michelle. i'm a little disappointed, im not gonna lie.
