Really?

So I was chatting the other week with a couple of guys, who shall remain nameless, and they were talking about how the nudity in Titanic didn't really count because it was Kate Winslet and "she is ugly and was fat in that movie anyway."

Yes. Not only did they say she isn't pretty. He said she was fat.

It took all my self control not to scream at him and hit him upside the head with a baseball bat. The fact that anyone would consider her fat in that movie, or any movie she's been in, absolutely infuriates me. That right there, is the reason that soooo many girls and women have eating disorders, depression, and self esteem problems in general. Kate Winslet is gorgeous, and yes she isn't disgustingly and unhealthily skinny. You can't see every bone in her sternum, and she has curves. Women are supposed to have curves!!!! Not look like 12 year old boys with zero body fat and huge fake boobs. It's like when Britney Spears performed on the VMA's a year or so ago and everyone was saying she was fat. She's had two kids and I think she looked great.



It's no secret that there has always been way more pressure for women to look a certain way, particularly in the media, but I think the way the media portrays relationships gives guys a false hope of what kind of woman they can get. Like this Carl's Jr. commercial that has been on recently.



The girl is gorgeous. And maybe the guy has the greatest personality in the world, but I wouldn't bet on it, especially if he takes her to places like Carl's Jr. on dates. Yet somehow we are supposed to believe they are dating?! There are sooo many examples on TV of fat men with skinny little wives. Like Kings of Queens, According to Jim, Homer and Marge Simpson, Peter and Lois Griffin, etc. etc. And shows like Seinfeld, George would never get half of the women he dates on that show. I asked Brody to tell me one sitcom, movie, cartoon, whatever where it has a big fat wife and super hot husband. There aren't any.

If you saw last week's, Office, they were debating whether Hilary Swank is hot. And Kevin, yes big fat Kevin, was saying she wasn't. Are you kidding me? Someone like Kevin is going to say that Hilary Swank isn't hot?!?!


Please. You can count the number of successful women in entertainment who are overweight on one hand. It's such a double standard and I just needed to get on my soapbox and vent a little.
