Baby Dru

My sweet nephew Dru was born a couple of weeks ago on the 18th---about 5 weeks early--and was 4 lbs 15 oz and he's had quite a struggle since then.  He is still at the hospital in the NICU but from the latest update, he seems to be doing better, relatively speaking.  My amazing sister Lisa's latest update said the following:

"They did a brain ultrasound on Dru today and everything looked normal. They also did a renal ultrasound to look at his kidneys and found that he has urine refluxing from his bladder back into his kidneys which is most likely the cause of his infection. The doctor has also determined which antibiotics will work best to treat the urinary infection so they will switch to that treatment today. He will continue to be on antibiotics in the hospital for another couple weeks. The lumbar puncture they performed to test for meningitis drew blood so that test will be inconclusive at this point. But the Dr. said that Dru is much pinker and is fighting the respirator so they will be trying to get him off that today, "or he's going to pull it out himself." We are grateful to the doctors and nurses for all they have done for Dru. And we are grateful for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes sent our way from our wonderful family, friends, and ward family. They have strengthened us."

It's been so hard not being around family for this, and my heart just absolutely breaks that this sweet little baby has had such a hard time.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!
